Men's Shirt Pattern Review

I made my husband a shirt with the pattern #Newlook6232 . It's a great pattern for a basic shirt. I used size L for him and 3 meters of a 100% cotton poplin fabric. This fabric is Just right for a shirt and the color is just what my husband asked for.

The instructions were easy to follow & clear. But I did a lot of changes. I did the left side as a sewn-on front band but I combined the front band panel with the right body panel and folded it over to finish. Also, I left out the back pleat and added back darts to make it fit his body. Plus, I redesigned the cuff as a curve angle instead of a right angle. My husband has a very big neck, so my main alteration was to increase the length of the neck band, collar and the body panels. Once more I reduced the collar width 1cm since a smaller collar is the trend now. The sleeves are way too big which is also not the trend now at all, but I left them. I will reduce and redesign the sleeves if I use this pattern again for my husband.

As you can see here, I changed so many things and indeed it became a customized pattern only for my husband. I took a lot of time on the alternations.

However, I am going to sew this again soon to make a women’s shirt. This is definitely a great pattern for a basic shirt.
