When summer goes and Autumn comes through my window, I’ve always wanted to have a trouser suit in my wardrobe. and Finally, I found this lovely fabric and the perfect sewing pattern to make my wardrobe complete this year before winter comes.
I wanted to make a blazer and pants together at first but My skill is not ready to make the blazer with the check fabric. To be honest, I don’t want to even think about matching every single panel.😅 So I used #V7975 #Vogue7975 option B for the jacket and used #V1870 #Vogue1870 for the trouser.
This trouser suit just has such an Autumn vibe and the color is just perfect for this season. I can play a lot with this outfit. I can wear both at the same time to look glamorous but also can wear it with different items to be more casual and playful. 😍
Let me share more detail about the sewing process.
※What size did you make?
→Jacket - option B , size 6.
→Trouser - Size 10.
※What fabric did you use?
→Jacket - option B , size 6. 3 meters
→Trouser - Size 10. 3 meters
I both needed extra fabric than what the instructions indicated because it always needs more fabric when you try to match the patterned fabric, and to avoid any mistakes, I cut every single panel separately instead of 2 layers cutting together.
However I still made some mistakes on the sleeves so I had to recut them to match with the body. 😥
This is nice plaid fabric. Ideal for a shirt or a dress. It is very soft and has a lot of color / pattern options which made it so hard to choose one. The colors are just like what you see on the website. Great quality and easy to treat.

※What adjustments did you make and how long did they take?
The Trousers took 2days to finish and the jacket took much longer because of some mistakes and a lot of small details. I didn’t change any design but I did make the hip size 3cm bigger in total from the size 10 pattern for my body shape and shortened the length. I forgot and skipped the stitched front crease. I also shortened the jacket following the petite size you can find the marks for in the pattern.
※What was the construction process like?
It was easy to make but I had a hard time using the patterned fabric.😂 The Jacket has a lining. I cut 2cm width in bias and connected it in one long tie of about 4yds to make the trim.
※Did the instructions make sense to you?
The instructions were easy to understand.
※How do you like the pattern’s fit? Do you think the design works well for your particular body shape?
I can’t complain about the Vogue pattern. They are always very detailed and well tailored. I can see they give a lot of effort to their pattern.
The reason why I love vogue patterns so much, even though they might be a bit pricier than other brands, is that they help improve my sewing skill and I learn a lot from their patterns. The trousers are very elegant and the jacket fits just perfectly.
※Will you make the pattern again? If so, what fit or design changes will you make?
I will definitely use these patterns again. First, I will make the blazer V1870 with a plain suiting fabric next time. I love high rise flared trousers so much but it is so difficult to find the right fit/length for someone small like me so I think I am going to make a black one for everyday trousers. Last, I will get some nice tweed fabric to make a spring jacket with V7975.
