Peplum blouse - M7978

I made a blouse with the Mccalls 7978 pattern. There are so many things with this to talk about with you like how I amended the pattern for my body size and what fabric I chose & how much fabric I used for this blouse.

  • What size did you make?

- UK Size 8 :)

  • How do you like the pattern's fit? Do you think the design works well for your particular body shape?

It was all good with me but i only had to resize the waist panels for my body size.

First I tested the pattern with alternative fabric. If you can use something with a similar quality as the actual fabric , it will be for the best but I didn’t have any cotton with me this time. So I tested with the leftover polyester fabric. Here as you can see, the upper part was too big for me but the waist line was too tight. So I had to amend the pattern for my waist size. And I had to amend the peplum following the revised waist pattern. I had to try 2~3 times with my new pattern for this part and I cut the actual fabric once I was comfortable enough. So before you do this pattern, I highly recommend you test your size.

  • What fabric did you use?

- This is an art gallery poplin cotton fabric. It is cream color and I love the textile. It is so delightful and attractive. This gorgeous fabric was gifted by Minerva.com .

It is 110cm width and I need around 2 & half meters for size 8.

you can shop here ;

  • what adjustments did you make and how long did they take?

I didn't amend any design for this project.

I used view B for body and view D for sleeves.

  • what was the construction process like?

I captured the images from my vid.

Stitched the body and neck tie , waist , peplum and that is it! :)

  • Did the instructions make sense to you?

Yes. I just refer the sewing instruction and it was easy to understand. :)

  • Will you make the pattern again? If so, what fit or design changes will you make?

I will! I am thinking to hack this pattern to make a dress!!!!

Peplum top is a never ending trend and it has a very chic, elegant and natural look. This white peplum top will go well with straight-leg jeans which is super trendy on the street right now. I can wear this formally or casually. It all depends on how I am gonna style and wear it. doesn’t this sound so fun?
