Today I am going to show you how to stitch an inseam pocket for beginners.

Last time, I shared how to do this but it was a more formal way to do so it could be a bit complicated for someone.

This time, it is really easy for all sewing beginners. So I hope this can help you a lot.

  1. One pair of body fabric. Front & Back

  2. 1 pair of pocket. If you are a beginner, I suggest you use the same fabric as the main for the pocket.

This is an interfacing. I will attach this to the front panel. You know, you will put something in your pocket and it would be nice to make the side seam strong and stay nicely. It also depends on the fabric. But i really recommend to use this.

So before you attach the pocket to the body panel. You need to overlock here.pls don't forget this .you can do this later but it won’t be easy as doing it now.

ree

place the pocket and the body panel right side together.

Use the notches to help you position it.

Line up the straight edges here.

And stitch around 0.5mm here.

And now overlock the edge. You need to finish the edges right now. Otherwise, it will be tricky to finish here.

turn this pocket over and press nicely.

I will top stitch here

Now put the front & back panel together and stitch the side seam to the pocket and side seam nicely.

That is it. Isnt it so easy?Side seam pockets are not difficult to add but the process can be confusing. But now with this simple process, you can make your dress more functional .
