Men shirt -free pattern from V&A by Alice & Co Patterns.

If you missed my last post about my shirred top with volume sleeves, Please check it out because I put a lot of effort into it. 😁

With the leftover fabrics, I made a men’s shirt for my friend. This unisex shirt pattern is free from V&A website which is designed by Alice & co patterns. I used size L with basic options. It was easy to sew and fun to learn how to make a popover/tunic placket if you have never tried just like me. Since the placket stops at the center of the chest, the shirt length is slightly shorter than a classic shirt. so please review this before cutting if you don’t like it.

and I am not sure if I made a mistake or it was designed just like this. The sleeve length was quite a bit shorter than the men's classic shirt as well. I had to recut the sleeve panels again. If you plan to use this, I highly recommend reviewing the pattern and measure before cutting.

This kind of shirt is dressier than a polo shirt, but more relaxed than an average button-down. I think cotton/ Linen or oxford fabric will be perfect as well. I used a band collar for a totally relaxed beach look and to show off a sporty and disengaged style.

This is very light weight which was perfect for my sewing projects but My friend needs to wear a shirt under it. so you might want to check your design in case you’re looking for something heavier. This is easy to use and has a lovely color. Furthermore, it is soft enough for dress making.
