Upcycling : Old bed sheet into a padded jacket

This week, I am going to share how i upcyled my old bed sheet into this cute jacket.

I used pattern #simplicity8298 #S8298 for the jacket.

This is the worn out bed sheet I am going to turn into brand new stuff.

It is padded. and I loved it. It is allergy free and very soft and nice.

Can you see How much I used? This part is totally worn out. Very sad.

I was about to throw this away but then I had a change of heart after realising I could use it longer. You know, wear longer and buy less. I try to make my life something like that.

Back to the pattern, I made a jacket with this pattern long ago. but this time , I will add ruffles around the chest here. So what I have done is simply cut the pattern out and then add them.

The seams were very bulky since this was padded fabric.

I had to serger the seam before putting the panels together.

I made 6 ties for the front.

I know this sounds crazy. I also removed the crazy quilting stitches and made a bias tape with it. This is a upcyling life.

The cropped jacket takes cues from folk aesthetics in a delightfully feminine style.

I am so happy to turn the old sheets into this adorable quilted jacket with statement ruffles.

Let’s think one more time before throwing things away. If possible, Let’s use longer and buy less.

How was my upcycling journey today?

I have made a video for the sewing process.

please check out if you are interested.

See you next week. Happy sewing to all!
